Once of my all time favourite meditations is from Danielle Laporte - The Creation Space. It’s all about connecting with the juicy energy of the divine feminine, mother earth. It's from this place of connection that we are able to replenish, fill up and receive the nurturing energy that we crave. As a client explained to me recently - yin nourishment. We can’t constantly be doing all the time. We can’t always be in yang energy. We need both.
Sometimes we just need to be. Sometimes we need to rest. Sometimes we need to nourish.
As we are nearing winter solstice and the days are becoming shorter, I’ve definitely noticed that my body is slowing down. I’ve been craving more down time, more cozy time. More root vegetables, more books and tea. Less busy, less overwhelm, less going full tilt all the time.
And I’ve been listening to what my body is craving. I’ve been learning how to continue to trust the flow of life, the current of life. Right now, my soul is craving simplicity and surrender. Surrender to the flow of life. There’s something really peaceful to trusting that things are unfolding as they are supposed to and you can let go.
As an avid planner, overthinker and someone who is very familiar with striving, taking the time to slow down, rest and just be is not necessarily easy for me. But it is important. I’ve found that when I take the time to do yin nourishment, I am happier, healthier, more grounded and have much more to give. I know that is the cliched thing to say, but it’s also my experience. It’s not necessarily easy to do, but when I do it, I feel so much better and have so much more capacity.
As we head into the Christmas season, I just want to gently remind you (and myself), that it is necessary to live deliberately. To choose the things that need to be done and leave the things that don’t. It is okay to choose movies and hot chocolate and naps and sleep ins. And walks and books and all the things that fill your soul. Don’t rush through this season. Take the time to slow down, to check in with yourself and see what is bubbling up. Covid has forced us to re-think many of the ways of being that are really not good for us or the planet. Use this time. Nourish yourself. Flow with the current of life. Learning to trust that flow is still part of my evolution, as a business owner, and as a human being.
This year has been hard for many people, both here at home and around the globe. Thank you for continuing to support local businesses. Thank you for continuing to choose local and to help your neighbours. Thank you for choosing kindness. Thank you for patience, for generosity, for honouring humanity.
Thank you to all the amazing businesses that I have worked with around the world this year and the partnerships that have been formed. I'm so thankful for your business and for the opportunity to be of service and help you get your messaging into the world. We need more people who are following their passions and showing up in big ways. It's an honour to work with you and I look forward to many years of collaboration.
From my family to yours, we wish you a very Merry Christmas, and a happy (and healthy) 2021!
